Congratulations Kittitas County Firefighters!

Firefighters from across Kittitas County put in a strong showing at this year’s Blood Cancer United Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle on Sunday, March 8, where teams raced up the 69 floors of Columbia Center in full firefighting gear – including air packs – to raise money for blood cancer research.

The Kittitas County Stair Climb Team finished 39th overall out of 259 registered teams from across the globe. 

Leading the local effort was Michael Werlech with Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescuefinishing the climb in 16 minutes 3 seconds and placing 93 out of over 1900 participants. 

Several other firefighters from fire districts around the county also completed the climb, helping represent Kittitas County at one of the largest firefighter fundraising events in the world.
